Background

Sphere India, a national coalition of humanitarian agencies in India promotes reform of humanitarian and DRR system with focus on accountability to affected and at risk people by developing policies, designing and implementing better inter agency coordination, efficient and predictable financing, creating awareness and capacity building on humanitarian- development and mainstreaming DRR and CCA. Sphere India promotes adherence to humanitarian principles, standards and building a grand inclusive coalition with localization and convergence of global frameworks of SFDRR, UNFCC, SDGs, Agenda for Humanity and other global and inter agency commitments.

National Institute of Disaster Management has been organizing various training courses and conducting seminars / workshops / conferences covering wide spectrum of themes at the national and international levels besides publishing several training modules and other documents including case studies, templates and disaster reports.

Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is organizing the 3rd meeting of National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) at New Delhi tentatively on 5th -6th May 2020 on the theme ‘Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction”

The National Platform aims to bring together the whole range of India's disaster risk community from Government, Parliamentarians, Local Self Governments, Media, International Organizations, NGOs, local community representatives, scientific and academic institutions and corporate businesses etc. It will help in sharing of experiences, views and ideas, present findings of research and action and explore opportunities for mutual cooperation in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).
